DipMSO, Master Mariner

Served as Master in product and crude vessels with Chevron Shipping and others since 1981, latterly including commodity chemicals. Now based in the UK and offering superintending expertise as follows:

  • Casualty attendance, investigation and reporting.
  • Liquid cargo loss control; contamination and spill investigation and support.
  • Fire, safety and personnel incident and/or loss investigation, reporting and follow-up.
  • Pre-vetting and CDI support: single-day mock inspections or thorough audits during port stay or sea passage; reporting; and training.
  • General safety and/or ISPS inspection and reporting on tanker and Ro-Ro vessels.
  • Internal ISM and/or ISPS audits on behalf of owner/operator.
  • Oversight and support attendance for Flag State, Third Party vetting, USCG, ISPSC and charterer inspections, &etc.
  • Support and/or training in case of Port State detention.
  • STS transfer oversight, facilitation and support. Attendance at same as coordinator, often required by charterers for STS in the USA.
  • Oversight and support attendance for laytime disputes, stops, or delays; at sea or in port.
  • Tanker new building pre- and post-delivery support and preparation/training for operation, initial inspections and trading.
  • Bridge Team Management and Passage Planning assessment and training.
  • Ad hoc or seminar presentations to ship and shore personnel on shipboard documentation and recording systems to meet Convention or liability needs; and associated office support and monitoring requirements.
  • Presentations and discussion group facilitation for ship and shore groups on preparation for external audits and inspections. (Third Part Vetting; Port State; &etc).
  • Coordination and support of trainees/cadets at UK Maritime Colleges, useful for non-UK based sponsors.
